The Philippine Scenario

My thoughts on the previous post The Great Disruption and the Big Shift

HOW DO WE SEE THE PHILIPPINES AS WE GLIDE INTO THE VORTEX OF THIS INEVITABLE “GREAT DISRUPTION AND THE BIG SHIFT”?

Is the FILIPINO better prepared than our neighbors for this global development?
Yes. We are the only Christian nation in this part of the world. Thus, while the world faces a fearsome and terrible destruction in light of mankind’s insolence and impiety, God assures us that He will not abandon those who are faithful to Him. Our Lady gave us the remedy at Fatima by asking for the daily recitation of the Rosary; the establishment of the First Five Saturday devotions; devotion to Her Immaculate Heart; a prayerful life; penance and amendment of life.

Likewise, as explained above, the Great Disruption will hit us only when we as a people fail to mitigate the effects of the this world-wide trend as the rich get richer and the big corporations rake in more and more profits, while the people get worse off, increasing in number - unable to get good work, while the environment gets more and more damaged.

Tagged as the Big Shift, globalization and fast-paced information technology are seen as saviors to offset the effects of this Disruption. Even as globalization also speeds up the Disruption, information technology should be pushed very hard to cover every barangay to allow us to economically overcome the lead of our South East Asian neighbors.

Now, in this era of globalization, multinational corporations and local businesses are no longer able to conduct destructive and unethical practices, such as polluting the environment, without attracting negative feedback from the general public. With increased media attention, pressure from non-governmental organizations, and rapid global information sharing, there is a surging demand from civil society, consumers, governments, and others for corporations to conduct sustainable business practices.
It is therefore assumed that big corporations will allow more people to share more of the fruits of their labor, and protect the environment.

Only if we work together as one God-fearing community, can the Filipino be better prepared to survive as the world is engulfed by this Great Disruption using the tools of the Big Shift. It is just a question of how soon we react.
